The Laurel Board of Trade, Inc. is a local non-profit membership organization founded in the early 1960’s by a group of Main Street small business merchants. At that time the group was known as “The Main Street Merchants Association”. As the years went by, small businesses in Laurel, but not necessarily on Main Street expressed interest in being involved and joining the organization. With that in mind the Directors decided to branch out and include all Laurel small businesses and the Main Street Merchants Association is now known as The Laurel Board of Trade, Inc. encompassing all small businesses in the Greater Laurel Area.
Over the years the basic mission has not changed; to help its members be their best through connections to knowledge, ideas, relationships with other small businesses in the area and educating the community on the importance of buying local and supporting your local small business.
Much of what the Laurel Board of Trade does is designed to provide programs to meet the business and professional needs of our members and contribute to the success of our small business community. We are in constant contact with our local officials and congressional delegates to ensure our members concerns are heard. We take commitment to the quality of life within the Laurel area very seriously. Mixing small business and pleasure in many of its events, LBOT is involved in community improvement, civic support and public education as part of its business mission.
The Laurel Board of Trade is always open to new ideas and ways to serve our members more effectively and to enhance the local business environment for our unique community. The Laurel Board of Trade, Inc. realizes that both businesses and individuals are facing tough economic times right now, but together as a group, we will be able to overcome the obstacles that might be facing us in the months ahead.
We invite you to ignite your connections with relevant people, knowledge, opportunity and community by joining our unique business organization and return the membership application along with your check to the Laurel Board of Trade office as soon as possible. The membership fees remain low in comparison to other business organizations in the area.
